Day two of recording vocals. This process is one of my absolute favorite things to do. It’s that moment when you have most of the music recorded so you can just float in it.
I love the journey of finding the magic of the vocal take.
It requires being very in touch with what’s going on in my myself in the moment. how I feel is how I will sound. How i’m feeling will be captured forever on a recording.
Can I access the original motion of the song? Do I even want to? The slightest breath or construction or relaxation can be heard on the subtle of levels.
I finally found a great take when I imagined myself on a dark stage singing to someone I loved very much. It wasn’t my cat 🐱 though that might also have worked.
